sorry for a bit of a hiatus there. so after madrid with the family, we took a look around spain together. we went back to salamanca and i finally explored ávila for a little tiny bit. we had a lot of fun doing that. we ended up in ávila due to a bit of bad directing on my part on the highway, but i did not have a map, so the fact that we got there without major problems is pretty impressive i think.
one of the longer days in my life was spent again in granada. it is a beautiful city that everyone should see, but driving eight hours in a day to see the city and staying until 12a is hard. we went to the alhambra, walked the city a bit, ate kebap and saw some flamenco. so it was good, but we did not get back to madrid until 4am. so that was rough.
but here is a bit of "what went down"

3000 miles from my home, i'm on the california zephyr...
so this is two posts in two days which is somewhat absurd! but i am doing it anyways. after i went to sierra de francia, i spent some more time here in salamanca and busted out the ole fish eye lens, which i have not used for a very long time. but, it was a good way to show some of the more obscure things i have come across in the city.. so here is a little bit more of a picture of my hometown here in spain.

hold that second, hold the time, hold that picture in your mind
as a study abroad group, we did a bus tour of some of the areas within the providence of salamanca to see some of the pueblos near and see the sights in our home town so to speak.
we went to a zone called sierra de francia where we saw a city name mogarraz and took a 5km hike. it was a lot of fun.
it was a really good trip, even though we spent a lot of time on the bus. it was kind of funny going up a mountain in a tour bus. we hit the guard rail on the mountain side a few times as we took big curves. people did not really enjoy that. but, i do think everyone enjoyed all the beautiful things we saw.
here is some of what i liked and or took pictures of:
